Vietnam’s exports to the US are soaring — up 23% so far this year to $6.2 billion. The US remains Vietnam’s largest market, accounting for 18% of its exports, and Vietnam now has surpassed Philippines and Indonesia and caught up with Malaysia in exports to the US.
Leading Vietnamese products available in the US include garments, furniture, footwear, seafood, cashews and machinery — with garments leading at $2.6 billion (up 18%), followed by footwear at $714 million. Vietnamese handbags, wallets and suitcases exported to the US surged 44% to $180 million.
Meanwhile Vietnam imported $1.8 billion from the US, a 26% increase. Vietnam’s trade surplus of $4.3 billion is up 21%.
