Vietnam exported a record $14.8 billion in products to the US last year while the country imported $3.5 billion for a total turnover of more than $18.3 billion — a 19% increase in trade activity between the two countries and 40 times the value when the two countries established diplomatic relations 15 years ealier.
Vietnam now ranks 27th among the US importers, with garments leading the way at $5.8 billion. Major exports from Vietnam to the US also include wood products, footwear, and seafood.
