General Electric Investing in Vietnam’s Wind Power

General Electric is considering expanding its wind power operations in Vietnam now that it has completed its $61 million wind turbine factory in the northern port of Haiphong — which consists of 200 wind power turbines with a combined capacity of 1.5 megawatts.

GE executives believe Vietnam has the largest potential of wind energy in the region.  They say the country is developing the legal framework and incentives to promote development of the wind energy sector.

GE also is working with Vietnam to support Vietnam’s oil and gas industry and its power infrastructure, aviation, and health care — and is supporting Vietnam’s development of human resources and technology.
