In Washington last week, Vietnamese American businesses launched an association to promote business with Vietnam. The group met with government officials and Vietnamese business representatives who were accompanying Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in his trip to the US to attend the Nuclear Security Summit.
The group, called the Business Association of Overseas Vietnamese, aims to promote business opportunities in Vietnam for Americans as well as the Vietnamese American business community. David Huy Ho, president of American branch of the organization, says the Vietnamese American community seeks to foster cooperative relations and a favorable business environment between Vietnam and the US . He says Vietnamese American businesses generated $20 billion in the US and invested $200 million in Vietnam in various projects.
The Vietnamese government expressed support for the organization.
