US to Help Vietnam Develop Nuclear Energy

Vietnam and the US have signed an agreement that will allow American companies to help develop nuclear energy in Vietnam — which last year approved plans to build the country’s first two nuclear power plants in the south central province of Ninh Thuan.  Vietnam reportedly has a deal with a Russian firm to build the first plant.

US Ambassador Michael Michalak calls the agreement an important moment in bilateral relations as this year marks the 15th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and Vietnam.
