US Firm Is Building a Soy Plant in Vietnam

American agribusiness company Bunge is building a $100 million soybean processing plant in Vietnam and plans to begin production in 2011.  The facility includes a 3,000-ton-per-day crushing line in its first phase to produce vegetable oil and protein for livestock.

The plant, built by subsidiary Bunge Vietnam, is in the Mekong Delta about 4o miles southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, an area with significant feed-milling and oil-refining operations that form the foundation of the plant’s prospective customer base.
