A September 2009 survey of local and international businesses assessed the business environment in Vietnam as better than last year. The survey also found businesses that assessed the environment as “poor” declined from 30% to 15%.
The improved climate was attributed to administrative reforms, better transparency, and removal of barriers to the Vietnamese market. Many businesses expected further improvements in future years.
Factors detracting from the business climate include infrastructure, intellectual property protection, fake goods, business dispute settlement, enforcement of court rulings, trade arbitration, public administration, and foreign currency services.
